SMS Terms & Conditions

Last updated August 2026.

These SMS Terms & Conditions explain the text messages Doft sends, how often we send them, what they cost you, how to stop them, and what we do — and do not do — with the consent you give us. They apply to every text (SMS) and picture (MMS) message sent from Doft to a mobile number you gave us, and they form part of our Terms of Use.

Doft is a product of Place Stars, Inc.

The messages we send

Most of what we text you is about your own account and the freight you are moving; one category is product news. Depending on how you use the platform, you may receive:

  • One-time passcodes and verification codes — when you sign in, reset a password, or confirm a phone number.
  • Load and booking alerts — a load that matches your lanes, a rate offer, a booking confirmation, or a change to a load you are already on.
  • Dispatch and trip updates — pickup and delivery reminders, appointment times, check-call requests, and status changes.
  • Document and payment notices — missing paperwork, invoice and factoring status, and payment confirmations.
  • Account and security notices — sign-ins from a new device, account or compliance-document expirations, and similar service messages.
  • Support replies — answers from our support team when you have reached out to us.
  • Product and promotional messages — news about Doft features, services and offers. In your notification settings this category is called New Products and Services, and it is switched on by default.

Promotional messages are the only category we treat as marketing, and you control that category on its own. The New Products and Services setting is on by default from the moment your account is created, so a number you gave us in order to sign in or to run a load can also receive product news until you switch it off. Turn it off in your notification settings whenever you like — but note that changing your account type resets your notification settings to their defaults, so check the setting again if you switch. We never share or sell your number so that anyone else can market to you — see below.

How often we message you

Message frequency varies. Our texts are driven by your own activity, so how many you receive depends on how many loads you post, search, or haul. A carrier running loads through Doft will normally receive several messages per load; an account that is idle may receive none for weeks.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply. Doft does not charge you for text messages, but your mobile carrier may, according to your plan. Check with your carrier if you are unsure. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How to stop messages, and how to get help

Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for help.

  • Text STOP to any message from Doft and we will stop texting you from the number you replied to. You will get one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT work the same way, but STOP is the one word every number we send from recognizes, so use STOP if you want to be certain. Doft does not send from a single number: if a message still reaches you from a different number afterwards, reply STOP to that one as well, or email support@doft.com and we will take your number off all of them.
  • Text HELP (or INFO) to any message from Doft and you will get an automatic reply telling you how to stop the messages and that message and data rates may apply. For anything that reply does not cover, email support@doft.com or come back to this page.
  • You can also ask us to stop at any time by emailing support@doft.com. Your notification settings switch off the three categories named under “Your consent” below; they do not switch off the rest, so STOP or an email to us is how you stop everything.
  • If you opted out and want messages again, text START — or UNSTOP or YES — to the same number. Only the text message can undo an opt-out: turning a setting back on in your account will not restart texts to a number that has replied STOP.

Our texts are sent by Place Stars, Inc., the company behind Doft, and not all of them come from the same number. The number that sends your verification codes and account messages is shared with LCash, the other product Place Stars operates, so replying STOP there stops those messages for both products — including an LCash code you were waiting for. Our product and promotional messages go out from a separate number, which carries no LCash traffic; a STOP on one of the two does not stop the other. To be removed from every Place Stars number at once, email support@doft.com and we will do it for you.

Opting out of texts does not close your Doft account, and we will still reach you by email and in-app notification where we need to. Be aware that STOP also stops the one-time passcodes we text for sign-in and password recovery on that number. If you rely on a texted code to sign in, switch off the category you do not want instead of sending STOP, or contact support@doft.com so we can keep you signed in another way.

Your consent

You give us permission to text you when you enter a mobile number and opt in — when you create a Doft account and verify the mobile number on the sign-up form, when you add or verify a phone number in your profile, when you turn on SMS notifications in your account settings, or when you ask us to text you. The account you create is governed by our Terms of Use, of which these SMS Terms form part. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchase, and apart from the one-time passcode that verifies your number it is not required to use Doft. Your notification settings switch off product and promotional texts, message notifications and nearby-load alerts individually. The other categories are service messages about your own account and the loads you are running; to stop those as well, reply STOP, which ends the messages from the number you replied to without closing your account. You must be the subscriber of the mobile number you give us, or be authorized by the subscriber to use it, and you agree to tell us if the number stops being yours.

Place Stars, Inc. also runs a web opt-in form. If you have not given us a number through Doft you can enter one and tick the consent box on the Place Stars opt-in form. Read the scope on that form before you tick it: it covers one-time passcodes and verification codes only. The load, dispatch, document, payment and account messages listed above are turned on and off in your Doft account settings, not on that form.

We do not share or sell your SMS consent data

This is the short version, and we mean all of it:

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Doft is one of several products operated by Place Stars, Inc. The others — LCash, Doft VPN and Doft eSIM — each run their own text-message programme under their own terms; LCash’s are at lcash.com/legal/sms. The commitment above holds across all of them, and consent given to one is never passed to another for marketing.

  • No third party ever gets your SMS consent. The mobile number you give us and the opt-in you grant with it are never shared with, sold, rented, leased, or otherwise disclosed to any third party or affiliate for that party’s own purposes.
  • Your opt-in information is never shared for marketing purposes. We do not share SMS opt-in data, consent records, or mobile numbers with anyone — including affiliates and other Place Stars companies — so that they can market to you.
  • The one exception is delivery. Your number is passed to the licensed communication service providers that carry our messages — our SMS aggregator and your mobile carrier — for the sole purpose of getting the message you asked for onto your phone. Those providers are contractually barred from using it for anything else.
  • We may also disclose information where the law compels us to, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Supported carriers and delivery

Doft messages are supported on all major U.S. mobile carriers. Delivery is not guaranteed: messages can be delayed or dropped by a carrier, by network conditions, or by a handset, and Doft is not liable for a message that does not arrive. Never rely on a text message alone for a time-critical safety decision.

Privacy

How we collect, use, store and protect the information behind these messages — including your mobile number — is set out in our Privacy Policy. Your use of Doft is governed by our Terms of Use.

Changes to these terms

We may update these SMS Terms & Conditions from time to time. The revision date shown at the top of this page tells you when it last changed; continuing to receive our messages after a change means you accept the updated terms.
